Philosophy

Tutor Time Now Philosophy

Our philosophy was created by Harvard and Berkley graduate, Tatum Hutton. The concept is customizing teaching to meet the needs of ALL students. At the extreme ends of this are students with special needs or learning differences and at the other, gifted students; however, most students fall somewhere in-between these extremes, and some even meet both criteria. Our philosophy remains true regardless; we are focused solely on the student's goals, learning style, and academic success.

Keep Your Student Caught Up

If your student is falling behind in their studies, it is critical to get them caught up as soon as possible. Once they are behind, it takes a significant amount of work to get them back on track. Tutoring can be a great way to help your student get back on top of their studies. It is important to ensure that your student has a firm grasp of the fundamentals, from elementary school all the way through college. Basic math and writing skills are imperative for college, and tutoring can help your student develop these skills to their fullest potential. With the right guidance, your student can get back on track and stay on top of their studies.

Features & Benefits

  • We are following all CDC and San Mateo guidelines regarding COVID so our students and tutors stay safe at all times.

  • Test prep is primarily focused on private high school entrance exams and the SAT and ACT; however, we offer test prep for 11 different major exams

  • Our college consultation services may also be useful through the other division of Custom Academics, LLC, College Time Now, where Tatum offers course advising, and help choosing the best colleges through a customized intake process. Tatum also helps students with the entire application process (including financial aid).

  • Most middle school and high school tutoring sessions are an hour long and occur weekly, biweekly, or more, depending on the student’s needs. It is always our goal to end the session in the best interest of the student- even if it takes extra time.

  • We have no long-term contract requirements.

  • Most students learn best in their own environment, so we travel to the student's home for tutoring, but we have made exceptions when necessary.

  • Tutoring outside of the tutor’s immediate area will incur a travel fee of $10-$40 depending on the travel time.

Group Tutoring pricing is customized based on the skill level, subjects, and needs of the group. All groups are kept small enough for individualized attention. Please contact us if you are interested in a group that is customized to meet your student’s needs.

*Learning differences or specific circumstances sometimes make the required session time unpredictable for a student; in that case, because we do customize everything for the student’s best interests, we then allow for the longer time slot schedule-wise, and charge you on an hourly basis. This offers the most flexibility, and you only pay for the minimum time your child needs. Some clients prefer this pricing method, but if this is recommended for your situation it will be discussed and included in the contract prior to beginning tutoring.
